On Wednesday evening, a group of UPDF soldiers, led by a lieutenant, raided the station, disarming police officers, including the officer-in-charge, and detaining them along with over 10 civilians who had gone to report various cases.

According to Col. Chris Magezi, Acting Defence Public Information Officer, the UPDF believes the incident was likely due to a failure of coordination between security officers on routine patrol and police elements at the station.

The matter is currently under internal review by both the UPDF and police authorities, with a resolution expected soon.

“The incident is probably a result of a failure of coordination between security officers on routine patrol and police elements at the station. This matter is now being reviewed internally by the UPDF and Police authorities, and will be resolved at the earliest opportunity,” Col. Magezi stated.

The review process aims to identify the root causes of the incident and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

The UPDF and police are working to restore normalcy and maintain public trust in the security agencies.

Both parties are committed to ensuring that such incidents do not recur and are strengthening their collaboration and coordination.

The incident underscores the need for enhanced communication and coordination between security agencies, and both parties are collaborating to resolve the issue and prevent similar incidents in the future.
