Police refute claims that the tortured 4 year old victim is dead.

KAMPALA – UGANDA: Police have risen to refute claims circulating on different social media platforms that the tortured 4 year old Tumwekwase Claire has passed on.

This followed an incident of aggravated torture that occurred on the night of 27th December 2024, in around Kikoko Zone, Namataba Cell, Kirinya Ward, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District where the Miner was allegedly tortured by a maid.

The suspect identified as Tumuhirwe Precious 35 was employed as a housemaid at the Victim’s home and after the incident, she fled to Kabale District where she was apprehended at Kabale Central Police Station.

Luke Owoyesigire the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson told this reporter that the victim is now receiving medical treatment at Nsambya Hospital, and is steadily improving.

“False information has been circulating today claiming the child has passed away. I want to clarify that the child is alive, and her condition is steadily improving”. Said Owoyesigire.

He added that the Police condemns all forms of violence, particularly against children, and remains committed to ensuring justice is served this urge the public to report any suspected cases of abuse to the nearest police station.

Sources have it that preliminary findings indicate that the victim’s father, Mr. Mwesigwa Michael 35 a resident of Kikonko – Kirinya, has been the primary caregiver for his children following a separation with the children’s mother two years ago.

Tumuhirwe Precious (the suspect), who had been employed as a housemaid for four years, was brought in through a recommendation from mutual acquaintances in Kabale District.
