News – A man, whose identity has not yet been established, was dramatically rescued on Monday after plunging into a pit latrine at Wanyama in Bugembe Parish, Jinja Northern Division.

The ground beneath him reportedly gave way, causing him to fall into the waste-filled pit.
Emergency responders and bystanders rushed to his aid, successfully pulling him out. He has since been taken to a nearby medical facility for assessment and decontamination. No life-threatening injuries have been reported at this time.
Authorities have since cordoned off the area and are urging demolition crews to exercise heightened caution when dealing with old or filled-up latrines. Efforts to establish the man’s identity and the circumstances leading up to the incident are ongoing.
