Cadat Benjamin said this as the Chief Guest at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Uganda National Students Association (UNSA), Rubirizi District Chapter, held at Ndekye Secondary School in Rubirizi district.

Emphasizing the foundational role of discipline, Hon. Cadat Buturo stated that it is the essential bridge to a successful future for the young generation.

“Students leaders need to enforce discipline in schools because it is only through discipline, unity, teamwork, patriotism, and self-reliance that we can create a bridge and connections for the young generation to thrive,” he remarked.

He further encouraged the leaders to cultivate self-respect, promote unity, and cooperate with their fellow students to leave a positive legacy.

Hon. Cadat urged leaders to support the smooth running of schools to achieve institutional goals, advising them to shun dictatorial tendencies, torture, and intimidation of fellow learners.

He further called on them to lead with integrity, foster unity, and actively avoid school strikes to collectively fulfill the values and mission of their schools.

Moses Karagwe, the UNSA Coordinator for Rubirizi District, explained that the meeting of over 12 schools’ leaders and teachers was aimed at networking and empowering students to become effective leaders.

He explained that the association is intended to nurture leadership skills, discipline, unity, and civic responsibility among learners through capacity-building training and mentorship for student leaders.

“UNSA helps student leaders to promote their skills through capacity-building training and mentorship. We network and empower them to become effective leaders who can promote school spirit, resolve conflicts, address student concerns, and advocate for their rights and interests,” Mr. Karagwe said.

The meeting also saw Alex Byamukama being elected the President-elect of Uganda National Students Association (UNSA). In his address, he expressed gratitude to the hopeful legislator, Cadat Benjamin, for his inspiring words.

Byamukama highlighted the vital platform UNSA provides, allowing students to share ideas, experiences, and knowledge, which in turn builds their confidence and helps maintain cordial relationships among students in schools across the district.

The Uganda National Students Association (UNSA) operates under the theme, “The Role of Student Leaders in the Smooth Running of the School,” majorly to transform student leadership for academic harmony and institutional progress.
