KAMPALA, UGANDA – Uganda Traffic Police have confirmed the arrest of Wadulo Musa, the driver of a YY Bus Company bus, which was involved in an accident that caused multiple fatalities and left a large number of passengers with severe injuries in Buikwe District.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Musa was driving a Scania bus (Reg. No. UAV 701C) traveling from Katosi to Jinja when he lost control at Makindu Village. This led to the vehicle overturning and catching fire in early May this year.
A number of passengers were reported dead, while others were rushed to Kawolo Hospital, St. Francis Lwanga Hospital in Buikwe, and other nearby health facilities, where they were taken for medical attention.
During a weekly press briefing on Monday, Traffic Police spokesperson Michael Kananura announced that Wadulo Musa was apprehended, produced before the Buikwe Chief Magistrate’s Court, and subsequently remanded to Buikwe Prisons.
Kananura added that Musa has been charged with a total of 16 counts under the Traffic and Road Safety Act, including four for causing death, twelve for causing bodily injury, and one for causing an accident, all through reckless driving.
“We confirm the arrest of Wadulo Musa, the driver of bus Reg. No. UAV 701C, who has been charged with 16 counts and remanded to prison,” Michael Kananura said.
