Busia, Uganda – The Busia District LCV Chairperson, Wasike Stephen Mugeni, was yesterday arrested and charged with wrongful confinement and threatening violence.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to reports, Mugeni allegedly held the Chief Administrative Officer, Lubuuka David, hostage at the Busia district headquarters on May 9th, demanding a government vehicle in a forceful and violent manner.
The incident, which was described as unprofessional conduct, led to an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Unit, CID, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Several witnesses were interviewed, and their testimonies aided the investigation, resulting in charges being brought against Mugeni.
In addition to the charges of wrongful confinement and threatening violence, Mugeni is also facing charges of stealing parts of a motor vehicle, including an engine and gearbox from a Toyota Hilux double cabin vehicle belonging to the Busia District Local Government.
Mugeni was arraigned before the Chief Magistrates Court in Busia and remanded until June 16th, 2025, in a case that highlights the importance of accountability and professionalism in public office and the authorities’ efforts to uphold the rule of law.
