RUKIGARenowned lawyer and economist Counsel Kiconco Patrick Katabazi has been officially declared the NRM Chairperson for Rwamucucu Subcounty, following an uncontested nomination process.

Kiconco, who is also vying for the Rukiga County Member of Parliament seat, made a grand entrance at the Rwamucucu Subcounty Headquarters, walking in a jubilant procession with hundreds of enthusiastic supporters. Many of them, including recently elected members of the NRM electoral college, had gathered outside his residence near Rushebeya Trading Centre to accompany him as he moved to the Polling Station.

The subcounty NRM registrar, Mr. Henry Kamugisha, confirmed Kiconco’s victory after no other candidates presented themselves for nomination. As a result, he was declared the winner unopposed.

Later, while addressing supporters at his home, Counsel Kiconco expressed heartfelt gratitude for the unchallenged endorsement. He pledged to serve all constituents equally, promising to work toward inclusive social-economic transformation in Rukiga District. He also urged fellow NRM leaders to intensify efforts in the upcoming general elections to ensure party dominance at all levels.

“This is not just a win for me but for the people of Rukiga District who believe in unity and progress. I am committed to serving you with integrity and without discrimination,” Kiconco stated.

Other members of the NRM League elected to the Rwamucucu Subcounty leadership include Christopher Kazoora, who was elected Chairperson for the Elderly; Davis Ainebyoona, the Youth Chairperson; Rosemary Tumwebaze, Chairperson of the Women’s League; Justus Turyamureeba, Chairperson for PWDs; and Ambrose Asiimwe, who was also elected unopposed as Chairperson for Veterans.

Elsewhere in Rukiga District, Mparo Town Council LC5 Councillor Amed Bende defeated former District Chairperson Dr. Alexander Kampikaho in the race for Mparo Town Council NRM Chairperson, while the District NRM Administrative Secretary, Asiimwe Jackson Rwamwehare, defeated MP aspirant Laston Besigye for the same seat in Kashambya Subcounty.
