Kasese, Uganda – The Kasese Central Police Station has arrested Morris Kithenge Masereka, 41, the NRM Registrar of Ibanda Kyanya Town Council in Kasese District.
Masereka is accused of causing the loss of 15 NRM party registers, allegedly due to tampering with the register book.
The police spokesperson for the Rwenzori East region, SP Nelson Tumushime, has confirmed the arrest and urged the public to remain calm.
“We call upon the public to remain calm and report any threats that could antagonize the party baraza and the voting process,” SP Tumushime said.
The police are working to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted process, and the public is encouraged to coordinate with security agencies, including the police, UPDF, and the Office of the RDC.
The arrest comes ahead of the NRM party elections, and the incident has raised concerns about the integrity of the electoral process. The police investigation is ongoing.
