KASESE, UGANDA – The Bishop of Kasese Diocese, Rt. Rev. Francis Aquirinus Kibira, has called on Christians to be pillars of peace, respect, and unity, emphasizing that such virtues are the foundation for inspiring generosity and kindness among the faithful.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The Bishop made the remarks on Sunday during a special fundraising mass held at the diocesan headquarters, aimed at collecting Shs 4.5 billion to support the victims of the tragic Namugongo incident that occurred in June 2025.
The mass, celebrated under the theme “Christ is Alive in You and Me,” drew a large congregation, including several political and community leaders.
Bishop Kibira highlighted the profound importance of the Lenten season as a sacred period dedicated to reconciliation and repentance, describing fasting as an act of love and forgiveness rather than mere abstinence.
He further called upon the faithful to release all grudges and thoughts of revenge, urging them to place their trust in God, pray for their adversaries, and rely on Him as their ultimate savior.
“Fasting is not merely abstaining from food; it is a time to reconcile with one another, to show love, and to offer forgiveness. We are called to avoid harboring grudges or seeking revenge. Instead, we must leave everything to God, pray for our enemies, and trust in Him as our savior,” Bishop Kibira said.
Bishop Kibira encouraged the faithful to pursue spiritual growth by embracing the four pillars of the Church: prayer, fasting, charity, and forgiveness.
He also cautioned against tribalism and hatred, advising parents to enroll their children in religious institutions to instill strong morals and discipline.
Speaking as the guest of honour, MP-elect Hon. Cadet Benjamin urged Christians to embrace faithfulness, sacrifice, forgiveness, and spiritual renewal as the foundation for community development.
He encouraged the faithful to support vulnerable families and places of worship selflessly, assuring them that those who give to God never incur loss but are abundantly blessed.
The MP-elect also called on parents to instill strong values in their children in order to combat ignorance and corruption. He appealed to all Ugandans to unite without discrimination in building God’s kingdom and uplifting their communities.
Hon. Cadet Benjamin contributed 8 million shillings toward the fundraising drive, which raised over 52 million shillings on the intended 4.5 billion shillings to support the victims of the 2025 Namugongo incident.
