SP Tumushime outlined a detailed security deployment plan covering all six districts of Kabale, Rukiga, Rubanda, Kanungu, Kisoro and Rukungiri aimed at safeguarding the integrity and credibility of the examination process.
“We want to confirm to the public, candidates, parents, school administrators and UNEB that we have put in place comprehensive security measures to ensure safe and peaceful conduct of the national examinations,” said SP Tumushime.
He noted that police personnel have been deployed to secure UNEB storage facilities across all districts, with the officers slated to escort examination materials from storage centres to examination centres and back, ensuring the papers remain secure throughout the entire process.
Both uniformed and plain-clothed officers have been deployed at all examination centres, and their presence is intended to prevent any form of malpractice, interference, and access by unauthorized persons.
The intelligence teams are on high alert to detect and prevent any plans to leak examinations or disrupt the process. Patrols have been intensified around examination centres and storage facilities.
The Traffic Police are slated to ensure the smooth movement of UNEB vehicles and maintain order on all roads leading to examination centres, preventing delays in the delivery of examination materials.
The police spokesperson further noted that the police are closely working with sister security agencies, UNEB officials, District Education Officers (DEOs), and Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) to ensure a coordinated and effective security operation.
Meanwhile, police have warned teachers, parents, and invigilators against involvement in examination malpractice, stating that anyone caught will be arrested and prosecuted in a court of law.
“Teachers, parents, and invigilators are warned against any involvement in examination malpractice, as anyone caught will be arrested and prosecuted in a court of law,” stated SP Tumushime.
The public has also been cautioned against spreading false information or fake leakage claims on social media, which could cause unnecessary panic and undermine public confidence in the examination process.
The police called upon all stakeholders to cooperate with security personnel to ensure the integrity and credibility of the examinations, adding that only accredited persons will be allowed within examination premises.
