WASHINGTON – The United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran have reached a comprehensive ceasefire agreement, marking a diplomatic achievement that stands to reshape the geopolitical landscape of the Middle East.

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that a ceasefire and peace deal with Iran is now complete, bringing an immediate and permanent end to hostilities between the two nations.

The United States of America president authorized the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the immediate removal of the United States naval blockade, allowing global oil shipments to resume.

“Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade. Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” Trump announced via his Truth Social platform.

The agreement, confirmed by Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, ends months of intense negotiations mediated by Pakistan and Qatar.

The ceasefire took effect on the evening of June 14, halting all military operations across every front including Lebanon, with both nations committing to an immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities.

Earlier on Sunday, Donald Trump expressed disappointment over Israeli airstrikes in Beirut that occurred just before the deal was finalized, calling for no further attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon or by any other party including Hezbollah against Israel.

“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day. There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel,” President Trump said.

The United States of America president further warned that such actions risk undermining what could become the most significant Middle East peace breakthrough in decades.

The Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced that under its martyred former leader and current Supreme Leader, the Islamic Republic has completed its superiority over the American-Zionist enemy.

The Secretariat confirmed that after months of difficult negotiations, the text of the Memorandum of Understanding on the end-of-war Islamabad negotiations between Iran and America was finalized.

“Following a difficult and intensive period of several months of negotiations, and based on the approval of the Supreme National Security Council, the text of the Memorandum of Understanding regarding the end-of-war negotiations, the Islamabad negotiations, between Iran and America was finalized,” the Secretariat statement reads in part.

Diplomatic sources have revealed a comprehensive fourteen-point memorandum of understanding including an agreement to the lifting of the naval blockade within thirty days, to be signed on Friday, June 19, 2026.

The agreement includes the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz under Iranian arrangements, suspending oil sanctions, and releasing twenty-four billion dollars of Iran’s frozen funds during a sixty-day negotiation period.

The United States has committed not to interfere in Iran’s internal affairs, while also pledging to present at least three hundred billion dollars in reconstruction plans and to help form a UN-approved supervisory mechanism.

Importantly, discussions regarding Iran’s missile program and its support for regional resistance groups have been definitively removed from the agenda.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who played a pivotal role in the negotiations, announced from Islamabad that a peace deal between the United States and Iran has been reached.

Sharif added that both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon, with Sharif extending special thanks to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye for their immense contributions.

“Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED. Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon,” Pakistan PM Sharif noted.

The official signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran will take place on Friday, June 19, in Switzerland.
