Katabazi made the remarks following the start of a retreat for newly elected NRM MPs and party-leaning independents, held at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi on Wednesday.

During the retreat’s opening, President Yoweri Museveni emphasized the need for leaders to deepen their understanding of ideology, philosophy, and strategy in order to accurately diagnose societal problems and prescribe effective solutions.

“Leaders must deepen their understanding of ideology, philosophy, and strategy to diagnose society’s problems and prescribe solutions. This generation must end poverty by creating prosperity through production, not begging or corruption. Every adult must earn from producing a good or a service. I look forward to the engagements of the week ahead,” the President stressed.

Following the first engagement, Hon. Patrick Katabazi pledged to align his legislative actions with the implementation of the NRM manifesto, ensuring that every initiative contributes to the betterment of Rukiga County and its people.

“As a dedicated representative of the people of Rukiga, I will fully align my efforts and actions as a Member of Parliament to actively contribute to the effective implementation of the NRM manifesto, ensuring that every decision and initiative I undertake directly serves the betterment of Rukiga County and its communities,” Katabazi stated.

Over 350 NRM members of Parliament-elect are attending the Kyankwanzi retreat, which is designed to provide orientation and facilitate strategic discussions that will shape the future of Uganda as the 12th Parliament convenes.

Other MPs-elect from the Kigezi region in attendance include Henry Musasizi (Rubanda East), Andrew Aja Baryayanga (Kabale Municipality), Rtd Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde (Rukungiri Municipality), Bruce Balaba Kabaasa (Rubanda West), Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda, among others.
