NTUNGAMO, UGANDA – The wife of the South Ankole Diocesan Bishop, Mrs. Lillian Ahimbisibwe, has urged the public to refocus on fundamental family values, describing the family as the basic unit of society that is currently under siege.

Mrs. Ahimbisibwe was addressing female believers on Saturday during the annual Women’sWorld Day of Prayer, held at Kyamate Playground in Ntungamo Municipality, hosted by the South Ankole Diocese.

She called for devoted prayers and mutual respect among family members to restore peace, while also advising women to exercise their rights responsibly by maintaining family dignity and showing respect within their marriages.

“The family is under attack, and it is high time we advocated for unity and mutual respect amongst family members if development is to flourish. A woman with noble character should be submissive and preserve human dignity, without despising their husbands,” Maama Ahimbisibwe advised.

The Women’s World Day of Prayer was commemorated in the South Ankole Diocese, celebrating the international laywomen’s initiative that unites believers in prayer and action.

This year’s theme, drawn from Ephesians 2:14-17, “Anchored in Christ for Unity, Stability and Peace,” deeply resonated with the congregants who gathered to pray for their families and nation.

Bashabeire Eva Turyamureeba from West Ankole Diocese advised women to be prayer warriors and to stand firm in faith as the only way to succeed in marriage.

Rev. John Katunzi from West Ankole Diocese urged believers to be faithful to their partners and to work hard for the development of their families until death separates them.

The South Ankole Diocesan Mothers’ Union President, Rebeca Lubega, noted that this day inspires all women to pray for their families, children, and the country.
