KAMPALA, UGANDA – Thirteen people have been confirmed injured following a serious crash in Zombo District on Monday, after their vehicle veered off the road and into a river.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The accident occurred at approximately 12:45 pm on Monday when a drone (UBJ 956G), traveling from Hoima towards Alangi in Zombo District, lost control and plunged into the Nyangak River.
The Traffic Police Spokesperson, SP Michael Kananura, has confirmed that all thirteen occupants on board, including the driver, sustained injuries in the crash.
“The driver, upon reaching the Nyangak River, reportedly failed to brake while speeding and subsequently lost control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and plunged into the river. All the occupants survived with injuries,” SP Kananura stated.
Kananura added that medical officials on the scene have classified the injuries, with two victims suffering serious injuries, while the remaining eleven individuals sustained minor injuries.
He confirmed that officers at the scene acted with urgency, rushing the injured to a nearby health facility where medical teams are working tirelessly to provide immediate care and stabilize the victims.
However, police have issued a stern warning to motorists against speeding, emphasizing that it reduces reaction time and increases the risk of severe accidents on hazardous roads.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the exact circumstances that led to the crash as the community prays for the speedy recovery of the injured.
