KAMPALA, UGANDA – The First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, is set to officially release the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination results on Friday, February 13, 2026, at State House, Nakasero.

The announcement follows a high-level meeting between the Minister and the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on Wednesday, paving the way for the release of results from the largest-ever UCE cohort.

A record 432,159 candidates sat for the 2025 UCE exams at 4,308 centres nationwide, a striking 12.1% increase from the 379,748 candidates in 2024, reflecting the continued expansion of access to secondary education across Uganda.

This year’s 432,159-strong candidate cohort was notably diverse, with female candidates leading at 52.7% and males at 47.3%, a reflection of Uganda’s steady progress toward gender parity.

The examinations welcomed 679 candidates with special needs, supported by 190 deployed personnel who ensured equitable access and accommodation for the candidates.

In a compelling testament to education’s transformative power, 12 inmates at Mbarara Main Prison were among those who sat for the exams, demonstrating that learning knows no boundaries.

Of the total candidate population, 154,637 learners (36%) were government-sponsored under the Universal Secondary Education (USE) programme, while 241,246 candidates were privately sponsored.

The 2025 UCE examinations mark a historic pedagogical shift as the first under the new Competency-Based Curriculum, while the USE programme underscores the government’s continued investment in equitable access to secondary education.

The move away from rote learning toward skills-based assessment represents a fundamental transformation in how Ugandan learners are evaluated.
