The District Speaker, Rt. Hon. Akampurira Oscar, publicly commended the CAO for the swift clean-up, signaling strong political support for the technical team’s initiatives.
“I applaud the Rukiga District Chief Administrative Officer for the swift move of cleaning up the struggling main town, Muhanga Town Council,” Speaker Akampurira stated.
A key part of the rehabilitation plan aims to solve the persistent garbage problems that have for years plagued the town, which the CAO described as “the eye of the district.”
Ms. Nakintu presented a concrete solution to the sanitation crisis, reaffirming the commitment of the district’s technical staff. She announced that every Wednesday has been officially designated as a garbage collection day for the town council.
“This move is expected to systematically tackle the waste management issue and restore the town’s aesthetic appeal,” Nakintu said.
Beyond the clean-up, the CAO announced a sweeping administrative reshuffle, effective November 1st, 2025, affecting several Senior Assistant Secretaries (SAS) and Town Clerks. The changes are a strategic effort to inject new energy and expertise into key positions.
New appointments include Mr. Musiimenta Allen Kakuru as SAS for Kamwezi Sub-County, Ms. Paddy Mbabazi Rubahika for Rwamucucu Sub-County, and Mr. Muganizi Jackson for Bukinda Sub-County.
Further key appointments feature Mr. Kakaire Herbert’s promotion to Senior Assistant Town Clerk for Muhanga. He replaces Ms. Eudia Akomuhangi Mutabazi, who moves to a post in Mparo. Mr. Akampa George will provide continuity by remaining as SAS for Kashambya Sub-County.
Attending the council session, Rukiga RDC Mr. Kamusiime Zadok expressed optimism about the establishment of a long-pursued Judicial Court while providing updates on other critical district matters.
“The RDC’s office, together with the CAO’s and District Chairperson’s offices, has been pushing to have a Judicial Court in Rukiga District, which we hope to start in the current financial year,” Zadok stated.
He highlighted the current challenge where police are forced to transfer case files daily to Kabale for management, a process that hampers judicial efficiency.
The RDC reported swift progress on the National ID registration but acknowledged hurdles, confirming that reported corruption involving some NIRA officials is now under investigation.
The collective announcements from the council session paint a picture of a district administration actively tackling its most pressing issues, from urban cleanliness and administrative efficiency to judicial access and civil registration.
