KAMPALA, UGANDA – The Minister for Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, has highlighted significant improvements in key health indicators, showcasing the Government’s sustained commitment to strengthening Uganda’s health system.

The Minister made these remarks on Thursday as the Guest of Honour at a High-Level Dialogue on Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and the Uganda National Health Compact, held at the Mestil Hotel.
The Minister was joined by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine; Ministry of Health commissioners; and a wide array of development partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNFPA, Seed Global, and CEHURD.
The dialogue also featured representation from several government ministries and agencies, including the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) and the Ministries of Public Service, Education, Finance, Local Government, Water and Environment, Agriculture, and Gender, alongside the National Planning Authority (NPA).
Permanent Secretary Dr. Diana Atwine emphasized the strategic priority of securing long-term health funding, reinforcing the government’s dedication to mobilizing resources.
She emphasized that sustainable financing is the key to achieving Universal Health Coverage.
She also took a moment to express the government’s appreciation for the health development partners present, acknowledging their continued support and collaboration in the shared mission of improving the health and well-being of all Ugandans.
The event marks a critical step in solidifying multi-sectoral partnerships and aligning national efforts to ensure quality healthcare is accessible and affordable for every citizen.
