Rubirizi District Convenes FY 2026/2027 Budget Conference, Stresses Accountability

RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – The Rubirizi District Local Government’s budget conference for the Financial Year 2026/2027 centered its discussions on the pillars of transparency, accountability, and improved service delivery to the local population.

Held on Wednesday at the Rukiko Hall, the conference brought together key leaders and stakeholders to shape the district’s developmental priorities.

The event was held under the theme, “Momentum of Uganda’s Economy Through Commercial Agriculture, Industrialisation, Expanding and Broadening Services, Digital Transformation and Market Access.”

The District Planner, Atwine Albert, and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Kasagara Edward, confirmed that the primary objective was to openly share and discuss challenges affecting service delivery and agree on measures for improvement.

“The conference aims to communicate the budget strategy and priorities for the FY 2026/2027 and to provide timely, focused information to key stakeholders for decision-making, based on the performance of various sectors in previous financial years,” they noted.

The District Chairperson, Aguba Silvester, stated that the event marks a critical stage in the district’s planning and budgeting process.

He emphasized that the gathering is essential for leaders to share ideas on effective development planning and to receive guidance on key government policies, particularly concerning infrastructure.

“The outcome of this conference is to establish key priority interventions for the next financial year’s budget. We will place strong emphasis on infrastructure development for roads, human capital development, and climate change adaptation,” Mr. Aguba said.

In a firm address, the Deputy RDC, Madam Robina Mirembe, issued a stern warning to all government workers regarding the misuse of public funds.

“Whoever misuses government funds will be arrested and charged. The government demands value for money and proper accountability; shoddy work is not acceptable,” Madam Mirembe declared.

She reaffirmed that the budget conference is a vital tool for increasing household incomes, providing equitable service delivery, and ultimately improving the quality of life for the people of Rubirizi.
