Speaking at the emotional launch event, Dr. Herbert Ainamani, Director of Hope Partners Africa, emphasized that the initiative is rooted in compassion and partnership.
The school aims to be a nurturing academic center where youth can realize their potential, embodying a promise to build Africa’s future by offering every child a place to belong, learn, and thrive.
“The establishment of Hope High School is not just the fulfillment of a dream it is the renewal of a promise: that every child, no matter their background, deserves a place to belong, to learn, and to thrive,” Dr. Ainamani declared.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to Living Hope for Children, the organization’s major international partner, whose financial and moral support was pivotal to the project’s success.
The school’s Headteacher, Isaac Kamuntu, confirmed that about 80 percent of the students are orphans or from economically disadvantaged families, sponsored entirely by Living Hope for Children.
Grant Mpirirwe, representing the school’s board chairman, gave an inspiring speech underscoring the transformative power of education, urging students not to be defined by their backgrounds.
“Do not lose hope because you are orphans or from disadvantaged families. If you study hard and concentrate on your studies, you can also be where others are. Education is the great equalizer that can bring a rich child and a poor child to the same table of authority,” Mpirirwe stated.
Hope High School began its operations in 2022 and was officially launched at an event that was attended by government officials, community leaders, caregivers, sponsors, and children under the care of Hope Partners Africa.
Also in attendance was Rubanda District Woman Member of Parliament, Prossy Akampurira Begumisa, who advised students to prioritize their studies.
She advised the girls to remain focused on their studies and avoid sexual activity, offering similar advice to the boys to prioritize their education for a successful future.
The celebratory day was marked by inspiring student testimonies, vibrant performances, and a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, signaling a renewed wave of hope for the community.
