NTUNGAMO, UGANDA – Residents have been urged to demonstrate a commitment to personal hygiene and environmental cleanliness within their respective communities.

The event saw staff and members take up cleaning tools to embark on cleaning and desilting drains across the streets of Kitwe Town Council in Ntungamo District.
According to Hategyeka, the public should proactively maintain sanitation and hygiene at their workplaces and homes instead of complaining to their leaders.
He praised Nyakayojo Sacco Kitwe Branch Manager, Kyokusiima Bonus, and community leaders for initiating a general cleaning of the town, which will be done on a monthly basis.

The Town Clerk of Kitwe Town Council, Arinaitwe Benson Rwankangi, commended Nyakayojo Sacco’s Kitwe branch for complementing government efforts to advocate for a clean environment.
Rwankangi directly linked public health to cleanliness, asserting that a clean environment can prevent the majority up to 75% of all community-based, preventable diseases.

The Nyakayojo Sacco Kitwe Branch Manager, Kyokusiima Bonus, revealed that they are promoting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles through community engagement and the general cleaning of the town to ensure a safe environment.
Kyokusiima noted that Nyakayojo Sacco is one of the best Saccos in the country, with seven branches aimed at harnessing financial inclusion and a “Tweyambe” scheme for uncertainties.
She thanked the Kitwe Town Council leadership, Sacco members, and staff for their cooperation and encouraged them to open accounts with Nyakayojo Sacco.
