He challenged the confirmands to reject the use of social media for criticism and abuse, and instead to use it as beacons of encouragement by spreading the gospel and building community.
“Many use these platforms to abuse and demean others, yet as Christians, we are called to use them to spread the gospel, encourage one another, and be role models in society,” Archbishop Kaziimba stated.
Archbishop Kaziimba urged the confirmants to cultivate a consistent prayer life, engage in fellowship with other believers, and let their character reflect Christ in all circumstances, “even in moments of anger.”
He further emphasized that confirmation is a commencement into spiritual maturity, not a graduation, outlining a path for the young believers to pursue a deeper faith.
“True growth comes when we read the Bible daily, for the Bible is the source of transformation, unlike other books which are only a source of information,” the Archbishop stated.
During the ceremony, the Archbishop expressed his appreciation for the Chaplain, the Rev. Dr. Lidy Kitz, and the entire St. Francis Chapel team for their role in preparing the youths for the sacrament.
