NTUNGAMO, UGANDA – The recent recruit of the opposition People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Hon. Winnie Twinomugisha Ndiyo, has linked her defection from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party to the Ugandan government’s failure to answer her desperate cries for help during a traumatic experience she endured in Dubai.

Hon. Twinomugisha stated that her decision originated from a fraudulent scheme last year, where she was tricked into paying 7 million Ugandan shillings to a man who falsely promised to secure her a teaching job in Dubai.
She confirmed the situation escalated when distressing videos appeared online showing her trapped in a Dubai center, begging for rescue and stating she and other Ugandan women were being held against their will.
The man she accused, MP Benjamin Kamukama, denies any wrongdoing. While he admits to helping her travel to Dubai, he insists she did not pay him directly and is attempting to ruin his reputation.
Winnie Twinomugisha’s traumatic experience led her to scrutinize the government, concluding the problem was a systemic failure extending beyond her own case, arguing it now serves the rich and powerful while failing to protect the poor.
She also accused officials of seizing land from the powerless poor and criticized schools, noting even state ones have crumbling buildings and few supplies, hindering poor children’s education.
She added that the poor condition of government health centers, which lack medicine and working equipment and deny people adequate care, led her to lose all trust in a system she sees as fundamentally unfair and unjust.
She stated that joining the PFF was a natural choice as the party champions the demand for rights and freedoms, and she called on all Ugandans to join her in the struggle.
