The body was reported to the authorities by Veterinary doctor Karegyeya Brighton, prompting a swift police response.

Two suspects, identified as Byamakama Javira Mawuruba, 19, a casual worker, and Kembabazi Winnie, 30, sister-in-law to the deceased, were arrested to assist with investigations.

According to Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituma, a team of investigators processed the crime scene, and with the assistance of a police dog named Honey, tracked a scent to blood-stained clothes belonging to Byamukama at Namutebi Jolly’s home.

Byamukama confessed to the crime, alleging that Kembabazi had paid him to kill Rita due to issues with her sister-in-law.

Kituma stated that the police are working to gather more evidence and piece together the circumstances surrounding the murder as the investigation continues, with the suspects currently in custody.
