Speaking at the official opening and naming of Busigi Church of Uganda to St. John’s Busigi Church of Uganda in Kisoro District, Bishop Mbitse attributed the prevailing peace and stability to the collaboration between religious and political leaders under President Museveni’s leadership.

The church, established in 1942 and currently led by lay leader Fred Mfitumukiza, was upgraded to a modern facility to enhance the spread of the gospel and promote faith among Christians.

Bishop Mbitse urged Christians aspiring for political positions to campaign respectfully and avoid threatening behavior towards their opponents.

He emphasized the importance of peace and unity, particularly in Kisoro District, which borders the conflict-affected Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The Bishop also called on Christians to avoid domestic violence, conflicts, and hatred within their homes and churches.

He commended the Christians of Busigi Church of Uganda for their efforts in constructing the modern church.

Dr. Leo Mfitimana, the Kisoro Municipality MP, who joined the Bishop, stated that his aim is to focus on true representation of the people, fight unemployment among youth, and poverty in communities.

The Archdeacon of Gitovu, Rev. Kiiza Habyara, and other Christians expressed gratitude to the Bishop for opening the church and highlighted plans to construct a pastoral residence to improve service delivery.
