During an inspection of the final phase of construction works at NARO-Uganda’s Anti-Tick Vaccine Factory in Namulonge on Friday, Tumwebaze highlighted the significance of innovation in agricultural development.

Tumwebaze emphasized the importance of innovation in grain value chains, improved post-harvest handling, and access to quality inputs to boost productivity and household incomes.

The Minister further stressed that strengthening the link between research and practical farming solutions is crucial for achieving agricultural development goals.

“As we strive to boost productivity and household incomes in Uganda, it’s crucial that we prioritize innovation in grain value chains, improve post-harvest handling, and ensure access to quality inputs. Strengthening the link between research and practical farming solutions is key to achieving this goal.” Said Minister Frank Tumwebaze.

The Anti-Tick Vaccine Factory in Namulonge once completed, will locally produce anti-tick vaccines to control tick-borne diseases affecting cattle and livestock farmers across Uganda.

The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) is mandated to coordinate, oversee, and guide agricultural research in Uganda, with a goal to enhance sustainable agricultural productivity and competitiveness.

Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries aims to transform subsistence farming into commercial agriculture, with a focus on improving productivity and household incomes.
