Museveni stressed the need for a patriotic and pan-African security force that leverages technical advancements like canine units, CCTV, and forensic science to supplement its personnel.
This approach, he believes, will better equip Uganda to address welfare, training, and equipment issues.
The meeting, attended by top Uganda Police officials led by Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba, focused on the theme “Strengthening Police capacity to Address Contemporary Policing Challenges for a Safe and Secure Community.”
Byakagaba highlighted the significance of the Police Council, comprising 85 members from various ranks, in the Uganda Police Force.
Museveni’s emphasis on a pan-African security force aligns with his broader vision for regional integration and cooperation.
