50-Year-Old Man Collapses and Dies While Going for a Short Call

Kanungu, Uganda – A Mufumbira old man walking to an unknown destination within Kanungu District was pronounced dead on Wednesday after collapsing while going for a short call.

The deceased has been identified as Basokoza Augustin, 50, from Kayembe cell, Kabuga parish, Kihihi sub-county, who suddenly died at around 6:00 pm in Nyarutojo cell, Nyaruto parish, Kambuga sub-county, Kanungu district.

Eyewitnesses allege that Augustin was walking, carrying luggage in a sack, and requested to use a restroom at a residential house.

He put down his luggage and walked toward the restroom before collapsing and dying instantly.

Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident, stating that the sudden death was reported at Kambuga police station.

Maate added that the scene was visited by D/CPL Niwagaba Francis, CI Kambuga, and other officers, and an inquiry has begun.

At the time of this report, the deceased’s body was still at the scene, pending transportation to Kambuga mortuary for a postmortem.
