Motorcyclist Dies in Collision with Wrong-Way Rider in Kanungu

KANUNGU: A devastating motorcycle accident has claimed the life of a motorcyclist in Karoni Cell, Nyamirama Sub County, Kanungu District.

The deceased has been identified as Ndyabanangi Evaristo, 50, a resident of Karukondo Cell, Nyakashure Parish, Nyamirama Sub-county.

Evaristo, the deceased, died instantly after his motorcycle, UGH 047P, was rammed into by another motorcycle, UGH 046X, ridden by Martin, 23, from Rwemishinya Cell.

The collision occurred when Martin was allegedly riding on the wrong side of the road, striking Ndyabanangi’s motorcycle, which was traveling in the correct lane.

ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police Spokesperson, confirmed that officers from Matanda Police Post were notified and promptly responded to the scene.

Maate added that the deceased’s body was taken to Nyamirama H/C III Mortuary, while the second victim, Martin, was rushed to Kambuga Hospital for medical attention.

Both motorcycles are currently parked at Nyamirama Police Station, pending inspection, as inquiries into the accident are ongoing.
