The Minister was over the weekend presiding over the closing ceremony of a civic education workshop at Kinkiizi High School in Kanungu District.

The workshop targeted leaders from Kabale, Rukungiri, Kanungu, Kisoro, Rubanda, and Rukiga, emphasizing the importance of civic education in promoting national development and unity.

Dr. Baryomunsi urged leaders to unify people and rally them towards hard work to alleviate poverty.

“As leaders, it is our duty to guide our communities towards development. We must work together to uplift the lives of our people and ensure they benefit from government programs,” Dr. Baryomunsi said.

The Minister highlighted various government initiatives, including the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and Youth Livelihood Programs, designed to promote economic growth and development.

He also announced a donation of 20 computers to Kinkiizi High School to enhance digital literacy and improve educational outcomes.

State Minister for ICT, Hon. Godfrey Kabyanga, advised leaders to prioritize experience, capability, and social capital when selecting leaders, rather than focusing on religion or tribe.

Kabyanga encouraged leaders to engage in businesses to support their communities and promote development.

The workshop concluded with the graduation of 324 cadres from the Kigezi region, who completed a week-long cadre course.

The graduates were urged to use their knowledge to foster development in their communities and serve their country selflessly.
