This was revealed by the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SP Racheal Kawala, in a definitive statement released today, Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, emphasizing the unified front of operations by all security agencies.

The polls, scheduled for Thursday, 22nd January 2026, will see citizens elect their Lord Mayor, Councillors, and District Chairpersons across the metropolitan region.

SP Kawala confirmed that a visible and robust security plan is already in motion in anticipation of the polls, with the ongoing deployment of joint security operations across the metropolitan area.

She added that security agencies remain fully committed to public safety, with their core mission firmly focused on protecting life and property, maintaining law and order, and preserving peace.

“To ensure a smooth electoral process, a robust security plan is now in motion, with joint operations deploying all over. We are committed to protecting life and property, maintaining law and order, and preserving peace,” stated SP Kawala.

The spokesperson further assured voters that authorities are fully and operationally prepared to ensure smooth, secure, and uninterrupted procedures at all polling stations.

The unified security command encourages citizens to go about their civic duty without fear, report any suspicious activities, and partner with law enforcement to ensure the elections are conducted in a secure, free, and fair environment.
