While presiding over the special plenary sitting convened on Wednesday to honor the late Ngora District Woman MP, Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo, Speaker Among confirmed that the swearing-in ceremony will take place between on May 12th to 15th, 2026, at Parliament.

The House observed a moment of profound reflection as Speaker Among paid tribute to the late Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo, who passed away on January 17th.

The Speaker remembered her as a prominent FDC member, a highly respected, friendly servant leader deeply loved by her constituents and peers in Parliament.

“Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo was a prominent member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), highly respected, a friendly person, and a servant leader, who was deeply loved by the people of Ngora and her colleagues in this Parliament,” Speaker Among stated.

The State Minister for Fisheries, Hon. Hellen Adoa, who presented the motion of tribute while standing in for the Leader of Government Business, honored the late MP as a leading promoter of unity as well as socioeconomic transformation, a figure whose dedication transcended political divides.

Before the special plenary sitting, the casket bearing the body of the late Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo was received at Parliament by the Rt. Hon. Speaker Anita Among and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, to allow MPs to pay their last respects to a cherished colleague.

Speaker Among then turned to the business of continuity, formally congratulating sitting legislators who retained their seats in the January 15th election.

The newly elected MPs, whose swearing-in is scheduled for May, will join the House following the established parliamentary calendar.

The late Hon. Stella Apolot Isodo will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at her ancestral home in Osigiria Village, Ngora Town Council, Ngora District.

Hon. Isodo passed away at Kampala Hospital after a short illness. She had been battling health issues and was awaiting surgery while in the Intensive Care Unit.

She had previously received treatment at Doctors Plaza in Soroti and traveled to India for specialized surgery last year, though the exact cause of her death has not been officially disclosed.
