KABALE, UGANDA – Police in Kabale are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman whose body was discovered abandoned in the compound of a church on Sunday.

According to the Kigezi Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, upon being notified, police visited the scene, processed it, and documented the evidence.
Maate confirmed that a sniffer dog was brought to the scene and led officers to the home of the deceased’s lover, a neighbor of the church who is currently at large.
Preliminary findings indicated that there were drag marks on the ground leading from the house, suggesting that it could be the primary crime scene and that she may have died there.
The spokesperson added that a search was conducted in the house, where pieces of a mattress and a blanket, soaked with suspected bodily fluids, were recovered. The items have been taken as evidence for forensic analysis.
“In a significant development, when the sniffer dog was introduced to the scene, it led our officers to the home of the victim’s lover, which neighbours the church. The suspect is currently at large. Pieces of a mattress and a blanket, soaked with suspected fluids, were recovered from the house,” Maate confirmed.
Police believe that Patricia’s body may have spent up to three days inside the house before being moved and abandoned early on the morning of November 30th.
The victim’s body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, where a postmortem will be conducted to establish the official cause of death.
Maate stated that they are focused on locating the primary suspect, who is on the run, and that concerted efforts are underway to arrest him to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The police have reiterated that inquiries are actively underway and are calling on anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.
