RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – The Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, has implored the electorate to shun division, urging NRM-leaning independents to demonstrate patriotism by stepping down and rallying behind the party’s official nominees.

Deputy Speaker revealed this charge during his visit to Rubirizi District on Monday, where he spearheaded a high-energy grassroots mission to solidify support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and all National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag-bearers.

He galvanized the party’s base with fervent calls for unity and a full-slate strategy, urging a record-breaking voter turnout and insisting that no NRM supporter be left behind.

“With a full-slate strategy, we will leave no NRM supporter behind; I urge everyone to vote NRM, stay focused, and ensure every single supporter is reached,” Tayebwa declared.

The NRM flag-bearer for Bunyaruguru Constituency, Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, called on all party contestants to cooperate fully and campaign vigorously to secure a massive win for the President in the region.

He emphasized that implementing the NRM Manifesto and aligning with the party’s core values are critical, calling for unity and reconciliation to overcome internal challenges like hunger and conflict that threaten party cohesion.

“To secure a massive win for the President in this region, I call on every party contestant to cooperate fully, campaign vigorously, and realign with the NRM Manifesto and our core values,” said Hon. Buturo.

Rubirizi NRM Chairperson, Manyire Edgar, stated that the Deputy Speaker’s visit launched a full party mobilization, boosting morale for a 100% voter turnout.

He also credited Tayebwa’s efforts for harmonizing voices and persuading independents to step aside for the collective good.

“By strategically inviting the Deputy Speaker to launch our mobilization, we have boosted morale for 100% voter turnout. His harmonizing of voices has persuaded independents to step aside for the party’s collective good,” stated Edgar.

The incumbent MP for Bunyaruguru, Hon. John Twesigye Ntamuhira, confirmed that the meeting demonstrated the party’s strength and appealed for determined unity to increase the President’s votes in Rubirizi.

He championed a bottom-up strategy, vigorously urging unwavering support for all official NRM flag-bearers from the grassroots level upwards.

Hon. Jeniva Nalongo Arinitwe, Rubirizi’s unopposed Woman MP, urged fellow leaders to intensify vote mobilization and unite both independents and official flag-bearers to build crucial momentum for the coming elections.

The MP for Katerera, Haji Muhamadi Katoto Kato, highlighted tangible progress by the NRM government in economic growth, empowerment, and democracy.

He affirmed a grassroots mobilization is underway to “protect these gains, aiming for 100%.”

The Rubirizi event signals a consolidated, aggressive final push by the NRM to unite its ranks and energize its base, setting the stage for a fiercely contested election period.
