The successful function raised over UGX 140 million to support the construction of terrazzo flooring inside the church.
Representing Hon. Esther Rwabugumi as the guest of honor at the function, Batinti told believers that the season of politics usually comes and goes, arguing that people must practice it in harmony.
He later delivered a contribution of 10 million in cash from Hon. Esther Rwabugumi towards the BAAF fundraising event and called on people to continue rallying behind Esther, whose manifesto, he said, is well focused on developing local people.
“The season of politics usually comes and goes. I urge you to practice mature politics in harmony. I lastly want to request you to continue rallying behind Hon. Esther; her manifesto is well focused on developing our community,” Batinti stated.
Presiding over the function, the Kabale Diocese Financial Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Innocent Naturinda, who represented Bishop Callistus Rubaramira, urged Christians to continue working together to support church initiatives.
Fr. Naturinda praised parishioners for their support of BAAF initiatives and emphasized the importance of providing essential services, especially to the disadvantaged.
He noted that establishing sustainable sources of income for the diocese will promote self-reliance and reduce dependence on constant contributions from Christians.
“The Bishop’s Annual Appeal Fund is a very important activity in the diocese because it helps us to continue growing our church activities, most especially to develop our facilities,” stated Fr. Naturinda.
Rev. Fr. Elias Katsigire, Parish Priest of Nyarushanje Catholic Parish, thanked Christians for their continued support in the fundraising and promised transparent and accountable management of the collected funds.
Fr. Katsigire encouraged Christians to remain patient and hardworking, reminding them that “little by little makes a bundle,” thus emphasizing the need for sustained efforts to keep the parish projects moving forward.
“I encourage you, believers, to remain patient and hardworking; remember that little by little makes a bundle, so I strongly charge you to continue putting in more efforts to keep the parish and the entire diocese’s projects moving forward,” Fr. Katsigire stated.
The event marked a significant step forward for the parish’s development projects, underscored by a unifying message that prioritized community development and peaceful co-existence over divisive politics.
