RUKUNGIRI, UGANDA – Members of the Rukungiri Municipality Veterans Emyooga SACCO have been encouraged to support the institution by taking out loans, saving, and buying more shares to strengthen its development.

Ainebyoona emphasized that recruiting new members is the responsibility of all members, not just the chairperson and management.
He urged them to engage with financial institutions to actively support their SACCO by mobilizing more members, saving, purchasing shares, and ensuring timely loan repayment.
The guest of honor, Retired Major Fulgence Tumuhairwe, who serves as the chairperson of veterans in Rukungiri District, urged members to spread awareness about the benefits of the SACCO to attract more people.
Tumuhairwe also urged SACCO members to ensure maximum participation in meetings, emphasizing that such engagement keeps them informed of new opportunities and is key to becoming self-sustainable.

Speaking at the same meeting, Retired Sergeant Emmanuel Banyezaki, chairperson of Rukungiri Municipality Veterans Emyooga SACCO, highlighted the significant growth of the SACCO, which has expanded since 2021 from UGX 30 million to UGX 50 million as of now in 2025.
He further committed to sensitizing veterans who are not yet members about the benefits of joining the SACCO to increase membership and financial inclusion.
Emmanuel appreciated members who borrow money from the SACCO and pay it back, emphasizing that it boosts the SACCO’s growth and stability.

The Emyooga initiative, a presidential program for wealth and job creation, was launched in Uganda in August 2019, with its practical rollout and funding beginning in mid-2020.
