Vigilante Justice Claims Life in Ntungamo: Suspected Thief Set Ablaze

Ntungamo, Uganda – A suspected motorcycle thief was brutally lynched and burnt to ashes by an angry mob in Ntungamo district on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025.

The deceased has been identified as Boyie, son of Bebwa and Omwitira, who was killed in a horrific incident that occurred in Murambi cell, Katungamo parish, Rugarama Sub county-Rushenyi.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim had been terrorizing the community, stealing valuable items such as goats and motorcycles.

When residents caught him with a stolen motorcycle, they took the law into their own hands, beating him to death and then setting his body ablaze using petrol, dry grasses, and firewood.

The incident occurred near Katungamo weekly market. At the time of reporting, the police had not been informed about the incident.

The brutal killing has raised concerns about the increasing cases of mob justice in the region.

Authorities have been urged to take swift action to address underlying issues leading to such heinous acts and ensure justice is served through proper channels.
