The ceremony, which drew members of the Baptist Church from around the world, was held today, at the Church located in Kanyakiriro Cell, Nyabikoni Ward, Kabale Municipality in southwestern Uganda.

Boaz succeeds Pr. Simpson Owembabazi, who served as the fifth Pastor of Kigezi Baptist Church from 2012 to 2024.

Boaz Ndyamuhaki became the Sixth Pastor of Kigezi Baptist Church

As part of the Christian custom in the Baptist Church, a group of elders gathered around the kneeling Boaz and his wife, Mrs. Precious Ndyamuhaki, and showered them with prayers of blessings and encouragement, dedicating them to God for the tasks ahead.

In his sermon, one of the Church missionaries and founders of Kigezi Baptist Church, Mr. Kirk Slater, urged the new Pastor to shepherd the Christian flock entrusted to him by God with utmost humility.

While reading from Psalm 23, Slater reminded Boaz of his primary task as a Pastor, which is to provide, protect, guide, and pray for the church under his care.

“Do not attempt to control or rule them with harshness or brutality, but rather strengthen them and help them grow in the word of God,” Slater advised, also encouraging the rest of the church members to support their Pastor and assist him in fulfilling his divine duties.

The Kabale Baptist Association Chairperson, Pr. Kenneth Agaba, who is also the Kamuganguzi Baptist Church Pastor, revealed that selecting Boaz followed a period of up to five months of prayer, seeking divine guidance.

“We have held numerous prayer meetings, and finally, God gave us a name, and it’s exactly how Boaz was selected,” he said.

Kenneth, who served as the interim Pastor of Kigezi Baptist Church since September 2024, expressed gratitude to the World Venture Church Missionaries led by Kirk Slater,  Skip Sorensen and other evangelists from the United Kingdom, the office of the Western Uganda regional overseer, and leaders of the Churches in the Kabale association for their assistance during the transition.

Rev. George Mbonye, the Regional Overseer of Western Uganda Baptist Church Associations, described Boaz as a humble servant of God. Mbonye testified that he had watched Boaz grow from Church Youth leadership to becoming the Pastor of West Rock Baptist Church (also in Kabale), and he was confident that his humility would enable him to faithfully serve God at Kigezi Baptist Church.

The ceremony was attended by guests from various Baptist Churches, including Kamuli, Mbarara, Rubanda, Kisoro, and Kampala, who joined in prayer for Boaz and his family.

In his maiden speech as the Pastor of Kigezi Baptist Church, Boaz pledged to commit maximum efforts to preaching the gospel to communities around the Church and seeking out the lost.

“I won’t promise to build a mega church in this place. My plan is to intensify preaching the gospel to those not yet reached and to find the lost, bringing them back to God,” he said.

ABOUT KIGEZI BAPTIST CHURCH

Kigezi Baptist Church is one of the 66 churches that make up the Western Uganda Regional Cluster, which subscribes to the Baptist Union of Uganda (BUU), comprising over 1800 churches and over 550,000 church members. The Union, recognized by the Government of Uganda as a Christian Denomination NGO, consists of nine regions and up to 95 associations.

KBC was the first Baptist Church founded in Greater Kabale District by a group of missionaries led by Kirk Slater, who partnered with the Kisoro Baptist Association to evangelize and establish a small fellowship that grew into a strong church between 1998 and 2001. Since then, up to seven more churches have been planted in the Greater Kabale District by preachers from the Kabale Baptist Association.

The Baptist Church’s foundation is deeply rooted in biblical instructions and revelations that form the core of Christian principles guiding church existence and operations.
