According to close friends, the veteran journalist had expressed his desire to be cremated after his passing, with some of his remains sent to his home country, Uganda, and other parts of Africa.

Shaka Ssali passed away on Thursday last week in Virginia, USA, just two weeks shy of his 72nd birthday.

His death was announced by his former employer, Straight Talk Africa.Born in Mwanjari, Kabale Municipality, Ssali left an indelible mark on African journalism during his illustrious career.

For two decades, he hosted Straight Talk Africa, a platform that brought together African leaders, citizens, and analysts to discuss critical issues such as democracy, governance, and development on the continent.

As the world mourns the loss of this influential journalist, attention turns to his final wish.

Will his body be cremated, and his ashes sent to Uganda and other parts of Africa as he desired? Only time will tell.
