Baryomunsi was Speaking at a gathering at Kanungu playground in Kanungu district on Thursday as he welcomed President Yoweri Museveni in the district, who is currently on a Parish Development Model (PDM) tour in the Kigezi Sub-region.

The Minister highlighted the region’s vast potential, noting that many residents are eager to benefit from initiatives but face limited opportunities due to few slots available per district.

He urged the government to establish an industrial hub, which would provide Skills, jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve living standards.

The Minister also drew attention to the struggles of tea farmers and nursery operators, requesting President Museveni to address plummeting tea prices and settle outstanding payments.

The tea industry is a vital sector in Uganda’s economy, and Baryomunsi’s request underscores the need for urgent intervention to stabilize the industry and ensure fair compensation for tea farmers and nursery operators.

In response, President Museveni pledged to tackle pressing regional issues and acknowledged the challenges faced by tea farmers and nursery operators, promising to find a solution.

The President also pledged 500 million shillings to the NRM Nyekundire women’s group in Kanungu district, aimed at supporting their economic empowerment initiatives.

The President’s commitment to addressing regional challenges has been welcomed by local leaders, who acknowledge the efforts made by the government to promote development and growth in the area.

As the government continues to implement initiatives like the Parish Development Model, residents with the region remain hopeful that their region will experience significant transformation and improvement in living standards.
