MP Katabaazi Urges Christians: Let Thanksgiving Be a Way of Life, Not Just a Day

"God breathed life back into my wife," Robert Niwagaba told a tearful congregation at Rushoroza Church, as he and his family celebrated both the baptism of their daughter and Susan's stunning recovery from a near-fatal illness. Joined by Rukiga MP Patrick Katabazi and Rev. Jackson Rutosha, the family called on Christians to give endless thanks, not out of compulsion, but from hearts that recognize God's sovereignty in every trial and triumph.

RUKIGA – The Rukiga County Member of Parliament, Hon. Kiconco Patrick Katabazi, has encouraged Christians to cultivate a lifestyle of endless thanksgiving to God, acknowledging His hand in both triumphs and trials.

The legislator made these remarks on Sunday, August 23, 2026, during a joyous thanksgiving ceremony for Mr. Niwagaba Robert and his wife, Niwabine Susan, along with the baptism of their daughter, Ahurira Savior, at Rushoroza Church of Uganda in Muhanga, Rukiga District.

The event drew a distinguished crowd of dignitaries from across the region and beyond, including members of the business community, educators, and banking professionals, all gathering to rejoice with the Niwagaba family.

MP Katabazi told the congregation that giving thanks to God is good and essential, rooted in His great works for our well-being, and urged believers to never stop praising Him because His mercies are fresh each morning.

“Giving thanks to God is good, and it is rooted in the great things He has done for our well-being. We must never cease to praise Him, for His mercies are new every morning,” the MP observed.

Rukiga County MP Hon. Kiconco Patrick Katabazi addressed the congregation at the joyful thanksgiving service of Mr. and Mrs. Niwagaba, which also marked the baptism of their daughter, Ahurira Savior

Robert Niwagaba disclosed that the thanksgiving plan was a declaration of God’s healing power, revealing that his wife Susan had been bedridden since October with a severe illness that plunged the family into great anguish.

“God breathed life back into my wife. There was a time she was so weak that she could not even breastfeed our daughter. But today, she stands here, strong and full of life. We are here to appreciate God for His mercy,” Robert told the church.

He extended heartfelt appreciation to the church community and well-wishers who tirelessly interceded for the family during the dark months, saying their prayers were the pillars that held the family together.

Presiding over the service, the Parish Priest of St. Emmanuel Church of Uganda, Muhanga Parish, Rev. Jackson Rutosha, reminded the faithful never to forget the low points from which God has rescued them.

Rev. Jackson Rutosha led the congregation in prayer for Mr. and Mrs. Niwagaba, as the family offered thanksgiving to God and presented their daughter, Ahurira Savior, for baptism

“God picks us from the miry clay and sets our feet upon a rock. We must thank Him genuinely, not out of compulsion, but out of a heart that recognizes His sovereignty,” Rev. Rutosha declared.

Rev. Rutosha praised Susan’s steadfast faith, observing that despite a grave illness, she remained anchored in God, proving that the divine gift of faith empowers believers to triumph over trials and stand unshaken in life’s fiercest storms.

The baptism of baby Ahurira Savior symbolized a new chapter for the Niwagaba family, marked by healing, hope, and renewed purpose, as the congregation lifted hymns of praise and fellowship, charging the atmosphere with joy and reverence.
