KASESE – The incumbent LC I Chairperson, who was vying for re-election in the upcoming local council polls, has mysteriously died after leaving home to conduct door-to-door campaign activities, from which he never returned.

Masereka, who was seeking re-election in the upcoming local council polls, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, under circumstances that have left both family and community members demanding answers.
Reliable sources say the deceased left home on the evening of July 21, 2026, for door-to-door campaign work, but his usual habit of drinking meant he often returned at irregular hours, and this time, he never came home.
However, in a tragic turn just past midnight, Mr. Masereka was returned to his residence in grave condition by unidentified persons, who swiftly departed without offering any explanation to his family.
The following morning, as his condition worsened dramatically, family members rushed him to Kyarumba Valley Health Clinic around 10:00 AM, but despite all efforts, he was pronounced dead just an hour later.
The Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson ASP Maate Elly confirmed to this reporter that initially, the body was taken back to his home for burial preparations in accordance with local custom.
However, deeply concerned by the suspicious nature of his sudden collapse and the circumstances of his return home, the family formally reported the matter to the police, citing fears that foul play may have been involved.
Maate said that the police visited the scene, gathered evidence, and took the body to Bwera Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death, as inquiries continue to guide next steps.
