Both sides arrived early for the hotly anticipated clash, and the referee’s whistle punctured the charged atmosphere at exactly 3:00 PM.
The opening 45 minutes showcased a balanced contest, with SC Volcanoes enforcing their attacking style while Booma FC’s disciplined defense neutralized clear scoring opportunities.
Despite waves of attacks from the home side, the Kitara Regional League champions held firm, forcing the first half to end in a goalless but intriguing stalemate.

Booma FC began causing problems with their quick transitional attacks, while the hosts continued to probe through the creative spark of players wearing shirts number 12 and number 4.
Volcanoes’ numbers 9 and 11 consistently terrorized Booma’s backline with dangerous runs, yet the visiting defense remained obstinate.
In the 64th minute, the visitors came agonizingly close to breaking the deadlock, stringing together three consecutive goal-scoring opportunities in a frantic goalmouth scramble.
Booma FC continued to press with purpose as shirt numbers 7 and 10 led their attacking forays, but SC Volcanoes’ defense, anchored by a vigilant goalkeeper, stood tall to keep the scores level.

Following the final whistle, Booma FC head coach Mr. Odeco remained defiantly optimistic, stating that his side had been preparing well and was ready to win at home after understanding the opponents’ tactics.
He added that Booma FC’s target is promotion to the FUFA Big League, insisting that the home side will not survive the decisive second leg in Kakumiro.
On the other side, SC Volcanoes club manager Muhire Martin exuded cautious optimism, saying his team is fully prepared for the away match and focused solely on earning promotion.
Muhire noted that SC Volcanoes no longer think about regional football, as their main goal is to compete in the FUFA Big League, and he passionately called upon all fans to travel to Kakumiro for the crucial second leg.
Meanwhile, SC Volcanoes head coach Patrick Ochan offered a measured assessment, acknowledging room for improvement while expressing confidence and satisfaction with the victory, and stating readiness to secure promotion after one week of preparation.
Both teams topped their respective regional league tables, making this playoff winner the sole representative for Western Uganda in the FUFA Big League next season.
The second and decisive leg will be played in Kakumiro District, where the aggregate winner will earn the coveted ticket to the FUFA Big League.
