BUSHENYI – The unidentified armed robbers made off with a pump-action rifle loaded with three rounds of ammunition after brutally assaulting a security guard on duty in Bushenyi District.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The victim, Karamuzi Aron, 28, a security guard with Global Link Security Services, was attacked and overpowered by four unidentified assailants armed with pangas and sticks in a Wednesday morning raid.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. as Aron was on duty guarding Kashenyi SACCO, located in Kashenyi II Cell, Kashenyi Ward, Ishaka Division, Bushenyi Municipality.
Reliable sources indicate that the security guard was overwhelmed by the gang, who inflicted severe wounds to his head and knee before making off with a pump-action rifle loaded with three rounds of ammunition.
Following the incident, the victim was rushed to KIU Teaching Hospital, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment. Authorities confirmed that his condition is steadily progressing well.
The Greater Bushenyi Regional Police spokesperson, SP Tayebwa Apollo, confirmed to this reporter that a team of police officers responded to the scene shortly after the incident, prior to its notification.
SP Tayebwa said that the police have not yet established a motive for the attack, although initial findings suggest the primary objective was the theft of the firearm.
He urged calm among residents as the police actively work to recover the stolen weapon, identify and arrest the suspects, and determine the motive behind the incident.
“Efforts are underway to recover the stolen firearm, identify and arrest the suspects, and establish the motive behind the attack. We appeal to any member of the general public with information relevant to this ongoing investigation to report to the nearest police station,” SP Tayebwa said.
Meanwhile, the police have since confirmed their commitment to rooting out the criminal gang as investigations progress, while assuring that they will provide further updates accordingly.
