RUKIGA – Hon. Simon Mutebi Rwamagyenda has officially taken office as the new District Chairperson of Rukiga following his decisive victory in the 2026 general election.

In a seamless transition of power, Hon. Rwamagyenda took the oath of office alongside all 21 district councilors, witnessed by key government officials including the Rukiga County MP Hon. Kiconco Patrick Katabazi (KP) and the District Woman MP Hon. Dr. Sylvia Alinaitwe.
Other officials present is the RDC, Tumusime Zadork, his deputy, the Assistant RDC, the Rukiga District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ms. Sharifah Nakintu and the Rubanda district LC V Chairperson elect Hon. Steven Kasyaba.
Among the councilors who took their oath is the former Rukiga District Council Speaker, Hon. Akampurira Oscar.
The atmosphere at the headquarters is charged as Hon. Rwamagyenda assumes the role of district boss, marking a new chapter for Rukiga’s leadership.
