The Western Region Football League title contenders SC Volcanoes and Six O’Clock FC have been handed a tight schedule, with each side set to play two matches in less than four days.

As the league enters its most critical phase, the two heavyweight teams find themselves navigating a treacherous fixture pile-up that could define the championship race.

The centerpiece of the run-in, the highly anticipated blockbuster between league leaders SC Volcanoes and second-placed Six O’Clock FC, has officially been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at Mashaka Playground in Kisoro District.

The fixture was originally slated for April 18 but was postponed due to the then-ongoing USSSA competitions in the Ankole region. According to FUFA authorities, several players and coaches from both clubs were engaged in school sports activities, necessitating the move.

However, the new date places both clubs in a pressure cooker, as each must first survive a demanding weekend assignment on Sunday, April 26, before they lock horns.

SC Volcanoes sit comfortably at the summit with 36 points; their immediate focus is a home clash against Makenke Barracks FC on April 26.

A victory there would extend their cushion before they return to action just three days later against their closest rivals, with the squad determined to maintain their position and increase the gap.

Trailing the leaders by seven points with 29 points, Six O’Clock FC cannot afford any dropped points as they host Mbarara FC at Kizinda Playground on April 26 before traveling to Kisoro for the colossal April 29 showdown against Volcanoes.

With the title race reaching boiling point, the next four days will test the depth, recovery, and mental fortitude of both squads in a grueling double-header that could define the Western Region championship.

Meanwhile, FUFA has confirmed several other postponed matches have been rearranged as the league sprints toward its finale:

May 5, 2026

· Kihihi Young Boys FC vs Makenke Barracks FC

May 13, 2026

· Kihihi Young Boys FC vs Mbarara FC

· Makenke Barracks FC vs Kabale City FC

May 19, 2026

· Rwenshama FC vs Six O’Clock FC

May 21, 2026

· Rwenshama FC vs Mbarara FC

Makenke Barracks FC find themselves locked in a four-way tie on 12 points alongside Mbarara FC, Gorilla Highlands SC, and Rwenshama FC.
