KABALE, UGANDA – The Territorial Police in Kabale have launched investigations into separate incidents in which two people were found dead under suspicious circumstances after being discovered hanging on Monday.

The victims have been named as Michael Twesigomwe, whose lifeless body was found hanging from an avocado tree, and Benson Twinomuhangi, discovered suspended from a eucalyptus tree.

Reports indicate that Twesigomwe, a resident of Makanga Cell in Kabale Municipality, was employed as a farm hand (shamba boy) at Rwamucumo Cell, Nyakasharara Parish, Kamuganguzi Sub County.

The deceased Twesigomwe allegedly took his own life on his employer’s compound. The rope used was recovered from the scene, and the motive remains unknown.

In a related heartbreaking incident, the body of Benson Twinomuhangi was found hanging in a garden at Kyambinga Village, Ntarabana Parish, Buhara Sub County, with a shirt reportedly used in the incident.

The Kigezi police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incidents, stating that upon receiving the reports, officers from CPS Kabale promptly visited both scenes to conduct preliminary inquiries.

He added that while police have established that the second victim, Benson Twinomuhangi, had a history of intermittent mental health issues, investigations into the circumstances surrounding Michael Twesigomwe’s death are still underway.

Maate further encouraged people to always seek services from the relevant offices to settle their grievances amicably rather than taking their own lives, which doesn’t solve anything.

Police confirmed that postmortem examinations have been conducted on both bodies, and they have been released to their respective families for burial in accordance with their traditions.
