She particularly thanked the President, the Vice President, the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament, the Chief Justice, Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers, Members of Parliament, and local government, religious, cultural, and business leaders for their commitment to the initiative.
The premier further appreciated the security agencies under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Forces, the Inspector General of Police, and the Commissioner General of Prisons, as well as waste collection truck drivers, contractors, and other service providers.
Robinah Nabbanja called upon all Ugandans to pay particular attention to the cleanliness of roadside and public walkways, markets and trading centres, drainage channels and water passages, schools and health facilities, residential neighborhoods and workplaces, and other public spaces requiring cleaning and maintenance.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister expressed concern over continued garbage in some areas and directed all responsible Local Government authorities and relevant institutions to ensure timely waste removal and enforce applicable sanitation measures.
She instructed Local Government leaders to ensure essential operational resources, cleaning tools and protective equipment, waste collection trucks and wheelbarrows, fuel and logistical support, and disposal of collected waste.
“Garbage in some areas is still a concern. I direct all Local Government authorities to strengthen sanitation supervision, remove waste in time, and enforce sanitation measures. Local Government leaders should provide cleaning tools, protective equipment, waste trucks and wheelbarrows, fuel, logistics, and safe waste disposal,” Nabbanja noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that collected waste must go to approved disposal or treatment facilities rather than other public spaces, while encouraging individuals, businesses, NGOs, and civil society to support the exercise by providing cleaning equipment and materials.
