ZURICH – The Ugandan Embassy in Switzerland and Private Safaris, a leading Swiss tour operator for African travel, have launched a major campaign in Zurich to promote Uganda as a tourism destination.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The campaign, part of the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to promote Uganda as a premier tourism destination, targets Switzerland, one of the world’s most active outbound travel markets, known for its high-spending travellers and strong appetite for international experiences.
Switzerland remains a very important market, as Swiss people are among the most frequent travellers in the world and have strong spending power, making them ideal visitors for Uganda’s premium tourism sector.
The campaign has two major parts. Starting 16 September 2026, trams moving through Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city, will carry striking images of Uganda’s wildlife and nature, with Zurich chosen because it has many high-income residents who love to travel.
Since 1 September 2026, a video showing Uganda’s amazing tourism attractions has been playing on large advertising screens at Zurich Main Train Station every 20 to 30 minutes, for thousands of commuters, residents, and international travellers to see.
Uganda’s Ambassador to Switzerland, H.E. Marcel R. Tibaleka, hailed the partnership as a great step, noting that it is the first time Uganda will have such a long and highly visible promotion in Zurich.
“Through this partnership with Private Safaris, we are bringing Uganda to Switzerland as a unique tourism destination and inviting the Swiss people to explore and discover the authentic experience our country has to offer. We look forward to translating this increased visibility into more Swiss tourists visiting Uganda,” Tibaleka noted.
The Embassy has since confirmed it will continue to use this kind of targeted approach, building strong partnerships in Switzerland to increase the number of tourists, how much they spend, and how long they stay in Uganda.
The campaign is expected to put Uganda’s mountain gorillas, wildlife, lakes, and beautiful landscapes right in front of potential visitors every day.
