KANUNGU – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kanungu, Amanyire Ambrose, has directed owners of hotels, bars, and other hospitality facilities to tighten client registration, screening, and the use of physical security.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The RDC issued the directive on Tuesday, September 15th, 2026, while addressing a high-level security sensitization meeting with hotel and bar owners within Kihiihi Town Council at the Town Council Rukiko Hall.
Speaking to the stakeholders, Amanyire emphasized that hospitality facilities can easily become targets or breeding grounds for criminal activities if proper security measures are not implemented.
He specifically ordered bar owners to employ bouncers and improve security at their premises by installing bright lighting along pathways and in all corners, with the aim of preventing crime and promoting the safety of the facilities.
“The security of your customers is your responsibility. We must work together to ensure that these places are safe for everyone,” Amanyire stated.
Kihiihi Town Council Mayor Rodgers Akankwasa called on police officers to exercise professionalism in their duties, specifically cautioning against charging individuals who have been screened and found to have committed no offense.
He further observed that such conduct by some security officials can seriously erode public trust and hinder sustained community efforts to maintain security.
Police officials attending the meeting assured hospitality facility owners that security agencies remain on standby around the clock to respond to reported incidents.
However, police officials at the meeting emphasized that true security ultimately starts with the owners and managers of the facilities themselves.
