Hon. Aja Baryayanga, a former MP and the founding director of Baata Engineering Company, emphasized the critical link between public lighting and community safety.
He highlighted that prolonged darkness on various streets has become a serious security threat, leading to loss of property and, tragically, lives.
“The absence of reliable street lighting creates shadows where criminality can thrive. It is a fundamental issue that directly impacts the peace of mind and physical security of every resident in our municipality,” stated Baryayanga.
Outlining a clear and time-bound commitment, Hon. Baryayanga vowed that within his first 100 days in Parliament, he would aggressively lobby for the installation of modern street lights integrated with surveillance cameras.
He positioned the dual approach as a community-empowering initiative, aiming to illuminate dark corners, bolster law enforcement, and foster a safer Kabale for families and businesses.
“This is more than just infrastructure; it is about empowering all communities. By lighting up Kabale, we are investing in a safer, more secure environment where businesses can thrive and families can move without fear,” he asserted.
The race for the Kabale Municipality Parliamentary seat is intensely competitive, setting the stage for a pivotal election.
Hon. Aja Baryayanga faces a formidable field of contenders, including the incumbent, Hon. Dr. Thaddeus Nicholas Kamara of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), who os defending the seat.
The contest is further enriched by a diverse slate of candidates: Hon. Jessy Aine of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and independents Hon. Dan Musinguzi Nabaasa, Hon. Alex Edgar Muhwezi, William Bakashaba, and Brian Arinaitwe Zatwoshaho.
